Collaboration: Community Projects
MOTIVATION EDUCATION™ supported the Blacks of the Chesapeake nonprofit organization working to bring environmental and enrichment education to minority students in two programs. LEAP was an after school elementary school program featuring a schedule that included mindfulness, athletics, online mathematics, and ECRCME’s “Out of the Box” STEM resources. We also supported this program by building a specialized STEM classroom complete with aquariums and a library. The second program was entitled the “Jr. Watershed Stewards Program” and featured high school students working with founder Reverend Johnny Calhoun to both learn about watershed stewardship and then service learning by helping with the LEAP program. ECRCME teamed with the Reverend to design a specialized curriculum that features eight modules. Each module includes three connected activities on Leadership, Environmental Stewardship and Legacy Appreciation.
