Collaboration: Earth Treks Climbing Centers
One of our most exciting and long-term collaborations has been with the Earth Treks Climbing Centers. .  Through the generosity of Earth Treks President Chris Warner, climbing walls have been put into schools and students have literally climbed higher than ever thought possible.  They learned the ins and outs of the world’s tallest seven summits.   For 15 + years, kids have climbed Mt. Everest in their classrooms.  The have simulated the risks and perils of ataxia, hypothermia and acclimatization.  Students also simulated building tents in 200 mile per hour winds, tying knots in the death zone, and followed Chris online as he worked to summit Mt. Everest or K2, two of the world’s highest peaks.  Think you can’t leave the classroom to experience the high winds and frozen temperatures of the Himalaya Mountains?  Don’t be silly--we have developed activities that can do those things! The students will also learn about George Mallory and the mystery surrounding his trek. Enjoy the gallery and contact us on how your students can climb Mt. Everest.
