Service Learning

Service Leaning is a growing focus for Educators Connecting Research to the K-16 Classroom, LLC.  Past successes for the lead teachers in the ECRC network has led to a contract for the 2018-2019 school year in which we will be working to create a unique STREAM approach to service learning.  We are writing drafts that integrate socio-emotional skills/competencies, theater and learning research, and service learning best practices that will be adaptable with our “zipper pages” to any education community.   Each holistic course of contents will feature “Lead Books” at both the elementary and middle school levels, spinoff simulations, improvisation and total prompt theater techniques as well as service learning suggestions and resources.  Please see the pdf below of our first draft of the CONTENTS & CREDITS page for this exciting work.

These pictures represent two projects.  (1.) Direct support for the victims of the 2011 Japanese Tsunami disaster.  Our teachers led a campaign to ship stuffed animals to children in shelters who had lost their parents during the tragedy.  (2.) ECRC teachers have adopted one room school houses on islands off the coast of Panama.   Students and teachers work to send resources to these schools.  Our motto is “Act Locally, Care Globally”.
