Changing the Atmosphere
Welcome to a Motivator Map for Educators opportunity for you to teach about wetlands as you consider the field research of scientists at the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center. Motivation Education creators have studied the work of scientists there and designed a hands-on laboratory activity based on the changing atmosphere where we are experiencing a steady rise of CO2 in the atmosphere. This real-world experiment takes students through the experimental process and then is supported by an original quiz board based on a research sharing a short video about the authentic research happening to discover what happens to plant life in the wetlands as CO2 increases. This resource is ideal for middle schoolers but has been successful adapted for younger audiences since it is so visual and easy to accomplish. Given a plastic chamber, a plant and keyboard spray cleaner, you will achieve amazing results…all explained in our Motivator Map for Educators complete with strategies and standards. The call for real world science is answered here. Supplementary resources are available with the many books that can be labelled “all about wetlands.
