The Woman Who Loved to Draw
Wanda Gaga is not that well known, but her books are known as the best children’s books not because they teach a moral, rather they are known as the best because of the intense detail that her artwork brings to a book. A book like “Millions of Cats” seems to leave a permanent impression on children. From a very young age all she wanted to do was draw and did, forever etched in the annals of children’s literature. In her honor, because she knew she wanted to draw for a living at an early age, we have put together the tools for people, young and old to teach themselves how to draw including graph paper and animal pictures to try the grid method. Please go to the library or buy some of Wanda's books, and if you are ever in Minnesota, be sure to stop by her house, now a museum. ECRCME was lucky enough in NYC to have come upon one of her original book publications (1928) and love to show this to kids as we share the joy of reading and dreaming to draw like Wanda Gag.
